Born
in Amsterdam 1943, left school when he was 12, and became autodidact
while travelling around the world. At the age of 20, he became a
photographer. At 30, he met Joost Elffers an produced several books
with him on art, architecture and games, including two major art
exhibitions (anamorphic art in the Rijks Museum and Fantastic architecture
in the Stedelijk Museum). At 40, he met Edward James, Niki
de Saint Phalle and Tinguely and for 4 years, lived and worked with
Niki. When he met Ada Breedveld in 1998, she encouraged him
to exhibit his objects From that time on, his work has been showed
in Holland, USA and France. He is fascinated by wind, movements,
lights and rusted iron. The objects are mostly mobiles , lamps,
paintings made with pigments, acrylics or rust and photographs of
faces and movements for that he uses and creates rusted iron often
covered partly with gold or silver leaves, stones shaped by nature
and pigments from India and the Luberon. The lamps are made with
rusted iron, Japanese paper or resin painted with acrylics. At the
moment, he lives in the south of France at Mount Athos with 4 angels. |
